It’s December and the holidays are in full swing! I absolutely love the holiday season. But no matter which holiday(s) you celebrate, it’s even easier to become overwhelmed and overscheduled this time of year. I can already sense that racing feeling in my chest that means Christmas is going to be here before we know it. That means holiday parties, Christmas shopping, time with extended family, cooking, eating, travel – whew, I’m getting tired just thinking about it! I don’t know about you, but I feel like I rarely step back far enough from my “to do” list to enjoy the holidays anymore.

There’s a lot of advice about scaling back and making the holidays more intentional. As usual, Renee Trudeau has some great advice to be kind to yourself this holiday season in her blog Permission Granted: 5 ways to find rest this holiday. I think I’m just going to try and look at my calendar and find some time to fit in a yoga class or to just read a book. And instead of writing out my holiday cards while my kids watch Rudolph and all of the other holidays special that I love, I’m going to snuggle up and watch, too. Somehow it will all get done!

How are you planning to manage all of your obligations and find time to enjoy the holidays this year?
